I purchased this cyclocomputer with the intent to be able to place it on my rear wheel for indoor trainer monitoring purposes. However the instructions state that you're supposed to mount the magnet on the front wheel. Is there any issue with mounting on the rear wheel?

Is the wire long enough, dude?

It's wireless.

the instructions should give a maximum distance it will be able to send/receive and since it specifies front wheel even if it doesn't the range might not be that large. The rear wheel may be both too far and at the wrong angle.

So basically, just try it and see what happens, then?

I would.

I forgot to put a smile face to show that I was kidding. Like evblazer said there is probably a maximum distance.

I have the wired version and they sell a mount for the rear wheel. You might want to check their website to see if there is anything similar for the wireless version.

The wireless Protoge 9.0 will not transmit to the reciever from the rear wheel. I am sending it back & have already purchased this one. http://www.cateye.com/en/product_detail/407 (http://http://www.cateye.com/en/product_detail/407)

It is made to reach the rear wheel as well as having a watt meter, so it will be useful for indoor training as well.

Corrected link.

You do realize that this is a wired model.

Watt meter? Did you link to the right one Strada Cadence? I have one and it works well for my recumbent which required a long wired version to work but i'd like one with even an estimated watts if it has it.

Sorry, not the watts. But cadence. I mis-spoke/typed.
