From my LBS, the Owner is a 4th Olympic rider and I can but his 1986 Bianchi Pista Frame and Fork for $280. The fram is in very good condition only the decals need some work. Do you think this is a good price, should I buy it and what sort of components can I buy for it.

if it's really a pista frame, the dropouts should face to the rear, and it shoudn't have a derailluer hanger, and it won't be spaced for gears. pistas are track frames, meant for fixed gear riding. if you're cool with that, go ahead and buy it. it sounds like a great deal! check out the SS/fixed gear forum if you have more questions.
If it's celeste, buy it! The prices of single speed/track build kits can run from reasonable to yikes! Plus, if you're thinking of riding it on the streets, check to see if the fork crown is drilled for a brake. You could be ready to go for around $500 total (Frame/fork & build kit). Sounds cool & good luck!

miche parts group from chucksbikes.com is like, $285 or something insane like that. that includes cranks, bottom bracket, headset, hubs, seatpost. it ain't the best around, but it's nothing to scoff at either...
I'm going to be odd man out here and say its not a good
deal. Its an old frame, what are you some kinda retrogrouch?
get something modern, you know plast. . . er.. I mean Carbon Fibres
or Aluminium or Manganese and Duralinuim (I've heard
that Scandalium is a good material).
Don't do it, send me the name of the LBS and I will
give them a sound thrashing for trying to flog that old, lugged
steel POS. I will make sure that they will not be able
to offer it up to anyone else.
