Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

So I'm selling a few things on Craig's List, and I got this one email with the following quotes:
"I am a business man andi am satisfied with the conditions has you have stated in the craigslist"
"for you inconvenience,i will add $50with the payment to be your running around fee."
"have the rest sent to the mover via western union money transfer or money gram."
So, I'm going to take some advice from 419 eater and mess with this stupid *****. heheheheheheh. :D:D:D. This is going to be fun. I already have a P.O. box, so he can send all of his fake documents there.
So you're not being scammed. Someone is trying to scam you. Have fun.

Try to tell him that before you will deal with him, it is essential that he gain your trust, in which case, he must send you five U.S. dollars - which you will send back (hah!) - as a gesture of goodwill.

I just can't believe you're selling your precious keepsakes (http://akroncanton.craigslist.org/clt/1002200533.html).

Walk away slowly now and don't look back. These scammers are experts. They know that you know that they are a scammer but to them thats the hook.
Its the cocky, self assured guys that ARE their target.
Let it go, walk away.

And what makes you think that the scammers don't know that this site exists and aren't already members willing and able to give advise?
Hey, for all we know it may be the scammers that setup the site. Serious.
See its the guys that are trying to scam them back that ARE their favorite targets and if they get them who are they going to tell?
A: No one.

Anthony, relax. Don't give an account number, don't cash a check, don't give an address. Some shlup in Nigeria won't be able to do a damn thing.

Trust me, scammers are idiots, people try to scam our store all the time, one even claiming to be a health inspector... threw a fit and hung up...
I have her personal cell phone number. :innocent:
Devil's advocate here:
Scammers are criminals, and they know they are already breaking the law for potentially felony-hard charges. I wouldn't put it past a would-be felon to try something violent, so they go to max with the "big dogs". A lot of scammers usually have some gang ties... gangs with more armaments put aside in a crackhouse somewhere than a lot of small nations would have.
I've had people try to scam me on CL, which is why I am glad I use disposable phone numbers and disposable E-mail addresses I can delete and walk away without worry.
Maybe I'm wary, but I try to minimize all contact with known criminals.
