Foo - I miss my home already...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I'm visiting my folks, first time in 3 years. I'm happy to see my family again but I miss my house already. The cable tv for the children, their video games, their toys... my internet connection (thanks God there a neighbor here with an open wifi), my home's AC (no AC here)... is quite a change. Driving is the worst, this whole place lives on a permanent island wide traffic jam. It's just ridiculous. And then comes the family drama... my brother being mad with my mom, my sis mad with my bro, another sis angry with another sis, daddy being angry with the world... Everybody has an issue with somebody. And they all feel the need to let me know.
It's gonna be a long week...
Solution #1...don't stay for a week. I just returned from visiting my family in KY...only stayed from Friday to Monday....it was perfect!

Yeah, theres nothing like family. Then again, theres nothing like family! More important than not wearing out a welcome mat is to not let the welcome mat wear you out. Leave early...While theres still time.

I've been here for about 15 hours and I'm fed up already. I just had an argument here with my family because they all want me to pick sides in their internal wars. They are all my family and I had issue with none. Yet, my Mom is not happy because I went to see my brother (they have issues). My dad is not happy because I stayed @ my Mom's instead of @ his place. My sister went over the roof because she found that I have another sister (with whom she has issues) as a friend on facebook. I called my sister in-law (my brother's ex) to see my nephews because one of them is moving to FL and I wanted to give him my contact info, in case something happens... well she thought I was a SPY, looking for info for my brother.
I'm starting to think I was adopted...

Thats easy, ignore them all, just be a good brother, son, cousin, uncle, WHATEVER! and everytime they try to argue just ignore it and talk about something else, works for me :thumb: Remember, no one has control over your emotions but you, no one can make you feel ANYWAY but you. :thumb:

I don't want to comment on the family drama. Neither my family or my wife's family has that much drama, or maybe I just choose to ignore it without realizing it.
Anyway, do your kids not know how to entertain themselves without cable or a video game? My 6-month old will be grown up and moved out of the house before he even knows what a TV or video game is... I hope.

Get a hotel room close to your mom's house. Turn it into a real vacation. I've done that when visiting the mother in law. It worked well for me.
