Alright that other Caad9 question is making me want to ask another Caad9 question. I asked like 5 already this week. How much is the caad9 7 and would it be smart to get a caad9 7 and swap the components for a sram rival groupset for $600 or get a caad9 5 with 105 groupset?

P.S. what is the general price of caad9 7 and sram rival 8 '09 in an LBS. Also this might be a stupid question but is sram rival a lot better than 105?

(Does anybody upgrade their CAAD9 with anything but Rival?? I expect to see a LOT of Sora and Tiagra on Ebay over the next couple of months...)

yea don't get me started. I am sure you know about my purchase last week. Caad9 6 and kept the Tiagra which works great....so far;).I have been waiting to get a new bike for about 1 1/2 years but did not want to jump into it with out research and it all led me to the caad9. I think you know what you want...the black is the way to go in my opinion...but i was even looking at the blue because i knew everyone would go with black, white, and grey. It would be cool to work with the blue.

i got the 6 and sold off all the tiagra stuff. Also got a new fork... the fork was a little too short (it's pretty heavy compared to my new one). I believe is stock fork is an OEM ADK

I wonder, would you stand to make a bigger "profit" if you sold the 105 versus the Sora/Tiagra? Don't you usually get a slight discount when you upgrade from the 7 to a 5 parts-wise?

The 105 model is fine. I race cross with a cat 2 who uses it as his primary race bike with no issues. I have Rival and love it. I would be equally happy with 105.

So should I stick with caad9 5 with the 105 groupset?
I probably would make a bigger profit with a 105 groupset but its too much of a hassle getting it sold. I dont have an ebay account and I have no idea how to get it shipped and stuff.
The rival costs 1k at my lbs. Online i can get it for $520 but I can only use debit cards online. I dont trust my PC with credit cards.

You can sell the groupset in separate parts. Would probably turn a bigger profit, plus, it's easier to ship those little parts than a whole group.

about how much can I get from a 105 groupset?

105 works. I can use all my gears and everything.

A full '09 105 group is currently going for $550 on eBay, probably should subtract a bit since it's technically not "new in box".

If i subtract out some it'll be around the sram rival price then. Anyone buy from neo-cycling before?

You sure you're getting '09 Rival, and not '08? That seems like a very good deal if it's '09.

not sure about neo-cycling it doesnt say which year it is
neo-cycle $520
total cycling is 09 for sure and $580

Also, you sure they're selling the complete group? Sometimes, groups are sold with or without the crank/bottom bracket. If you already have a good crank, good for you, but that's probably worth consideration. From the prices I'm seeing, $580 is a good price for a 6-piece Rival, while 8-piece costs $650+

totalcycling is an 8 piece set, but its a UK retailer

ah found out one of my lbs is selling the group for 510-570. But its not including the cables and BB. How much is the BB anyway?

off topic. You are more exposed with debit card than credit card. I use my amex... I have no worries about fraud. THey got my back

I roughly priced it and the 6 was more profitable than the 5.

Also, just get the rival... imo. You'll be riding the bike for years, so whats and additional $200-300 (after selling tiagra components)

I'd imagine that selling 105 would be easier than selling Tiagra, though.

besides those components, is there much of a difference in stem, seatpost, saddle, and handlebars between the caad9's

Not sure, but just go to the Cannondale web site and look at the Spec sections on the different CAAD models.

Nothing wrong with 105 at all. But if you must swap it out, don't forget that Campagnolo groups are very cheap from those self same UK online vendors. Centaur is a great group!
