Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I picked up my new 2009 Langster in polished aluminium from my local bike shop this morning. My wife’s opinion; “hmm looks a really nice bike, but singlespeed?!?! I think you’re making a mistake…”
It certainly looks the d’s b’s: http://www.specialized.com/OA_MEDIA/2009/bikes/9094-90_EL_LANG-langster_d.jpg
Well I’ve just taken it round my training route around the hilly lanes around my home and I really don’t know where to start. It’s an absolute revelation!
It just absolutely flies!! I started out with the intention of taking it nice and easy, but I just couldn’t and finished in one of the quickest times I’ve ever done! It’s one of the stiffest and most responsive bikes I’ve ever ridden, it really does accelerate like a rocket and corners like a housefly. OK, there were times when I could have used a bigger gear on the steep downhills and an easier gear on some of the long steep drags, but on everything other than the steepest ups or downs it’s an absolute blast.
The most instantly impressive and best value for money bike I've ever had.:thumb:

Definitely looks fun! I'm headed to my LBS at lunch today to order my frame for my new fixed project - upgraded from Schwinn Varsity conversion - I can't WAIT!!!
Congrats on the new ride, looks good & sounds like a good fit for you.
yeah, out of the new lineup I'd have to say the polished is the easiest on the eyes. Good luck with your training I know I like my fixed more than my road bike now(not good!)

The picture does not do this bike justice IMO, it looks much better in the flesh. Enjoy your new ride!!

Hey, your new bike sounds nice. Post up some pictures of it for us. I have a thing for chrome/polished finished bikes :).

Nice, I like the seattle better though, I agree that that pic doesn't do it justice

I still can't get over the compact geometry. but other than that http://images.encyclopediadramatica.com/images/4/4d/Emot-awesome.gif
Looks great, but i'm with j3ffr3y.
You've made a good choice. I was going to get the Langster london but I found a different bike for a bit cheaper. You won't miss the extra gears.

Correct, this was my first posting and I wasn't sure of any language filters on the site. I didn't want to get banned before I'd started :D
No, I'm not sponsored by Specialized, but that's not a bad idea - I'll drop them a line :thumb:
I think the Langster tends to polarise opinion amongst the single-speed community - none more so than the city-themed ones – but hey, you don’t have to buy one. I love the super-shiny polished finish myself – I think I was a Magpie in a previous life.
I’ll take a few snaps and post them up
