Northern California - Bay Area stores with touring gear

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I live in Oakland, and need a couple of touring specific peices of gear for my bike, namely, a front rack for my Surly LHT. I kind of need to replace a broken one in a hurry and am trying not to have to mail order one. Does anyone here know of any stores in the Bay Area that have a good selection of touring gear. I have already checked REI and Performance (not my favorite shops but good for commuter/touring gear sometimes) and no luck there.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Rivendell (http://www.boxdogbikes.com/products.html) carries Nitto racks and I think maybe Tubus as well. People think of it as a web/catalogue business, but you can actually go to the headquarters in Walnut Creek and try/buy stuff directly.
You might also give Box Dog Bikes (http://www.boxdogbikes.com) in SF a call. They tend to carry a fair amount of randonneuring/touring equipment, so might have what you need in stock.

True dat about Rivendell. They actually have a store next to the mail-order part that is open Fridays and Saturdays. You can also arrange to pick stuff up at other times by calling ahead. And they do have racks.
Velo Sport in Berkeley used to carry a good selection of racks, paniers and stuff, but I haven't been in there in a loing time, so call them first.

The touring gear selection in most shops is poor, especially the racks. Do yourself a favor and contact wayne at the touring store www.thetouringstore.com
He has the best prices around, and is really pleasant to deal with when you have issues with your gear.

Thanks for the help everyone. I have actually been in the Rivendell store and they have some really cool stuff in there. I might swing by there tomorrow.
