Well I Just bolted on:

The top crown would not fit due to my tall stack height, so I used the stock Marz top crown and Risse's lower crown. Let me tell you that this thing is pretty, fit and finish is awesome. The steerer tube is thick; was a little rough getting the star-nut in, but well worth it for the added strength. It actually lowered my ride height by about 1 1/2". I love having the "bolt" on steerer tube vs. pressed in. Everything clears with room to spare when set at the min mark, I only wish I could have used the top crown; damn tall stack height; but still looks very nice. I think it is a worthy upgrade for anyone with a 888R and you have a stack height of 160mm or more, and are looking for a little more adjustability.

A crown is a part of your fork. Here a picture might make it easier. The ones in the picture are the stock crowns ;)

So B.D., where in SoCal are you? You going to race at all this year. Your bike looks ready for it and the Gotta Thunder DH is just a few weeks away. It will also give ya a chance to dirty that perrrrty rig up with a few battle wounds. ;)

I'm in Rancho Cucamonga. Near Fontana. You can't really tell from the pics but it has it's battle wounds. I just keep it clean. There is a race this weekend in Fontana but I'm working so I won't be able to make it.

SouthRidge races are much better then TBB races and I may hit up one of the CalStates there. You ever get up to Ventura let me know.

What exactly is the purpose of dual-crown forks?

You see dual crowns wiht almost 7-9 inches of travel. Not doable on a Single Crown. WEll it could be, but it wouldn't be safe

The go-ride crowns drop it even more and there's no worries about a Risse stoner working the lathe/CNC and screwing up the maching.

So it adds rigidity?

Uh...have you seen the product? Tried the crowns? My guess is no to both counts. I've seen a lot of rumors about the Risse guys being potheads. Uh...have you seen them smoke or are you going by what you heard from someone who knows someone who knows someone whose uncle’s cousin brother saw them smoke? My guess is that later.
I can tell you one thing for sure. The guys at Risse Racing know how to CNC aluminum into strong, functional stuff.
Your first fallacy is that the go-ride crowns drop them even lower. Uh... again refer to question one: Have you seen the product?

You claim that the Risse crowns drop your fork 1 1/2". What happens to the tire clearance? Does it stil lclear a 3.0 like the go-ride crowns?
You guessed wrong there sport. I have seen the tools from Risse smokin' out like a bad Cheech and Chong flick, over consecutive days. Heck, I probably have pics and/or video footage of them making complete asses of themselves in Downieville last June as well.
With what I know about the Risse stoners, firsthand, I wouldn't cheap out and get the Risse crowns over the go-ride crowns.

I did not design this post to turn into any kind of flame war. I posted it to talk about a new product that I have. Again, fit/finish is first rate. Everything clears everything. With a Minion 2.7 I have about 9" to the bottom of the crown in the minimum setting. I'm sure a 3.0 would still clear just fine; don't know many that even run 3.0's anymore but that is another story altogether.
Even if someone(s) at Risse has a pot smoking problem then so be it, this does not take away from the fact that they make nice things out of aluminum. Not to mention I think you’d be surprised at how many people in our sport have this same habit. And Scott from go-ride came to Kevin Risse's defense personally on another forum on the very same accusations of pot smoking. I have nothing bad to say about go-ride. I really like everyone there and they are always helpful. The factor behind my decision to go with the Risse crowns was: 1. Availability. 2. Fit/finish/color. 3. Price.
I would have had to wait another 2 weeks before I would be able to get the go-ride crowns. I have no problem spending money on my bike, so this is not an issue of “cheaping out”. In fact it the Risse crowns did not work out I would have no compunctions to buy the go-ride crowns.
I really don't see how someone can bash something without even seeing it or trying it? I posted a positive review from first hand experience; you know, actually holding, installing, and riding the product.

Let me reiterate:
"no worries about a Risse stoner working the lathe/CNC and screwing up the maching"
I have first hand experience with the habits/behavior/general flakiness of the Risse boys, hence my comment.
Yeah, lots of folks smoke and ride. There's a big difference between the guys that I know who smoke and the derelicts that work at Risse. Hell, the Risse boys make the Clampers look like normal folks, and that's saying alot.
They're not folks that I would want to have working on parts (critical or not) for my ride.
