Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Windsor the Hour owners, anyone (tires?)

Anyone have 700x28 on their Hour? Wondering if it will fit. I want a set of wider tires for my commute to and from work. 23's are jarring, I didn't think 25's would make any difference, so hopefully I can fit 28's.

i've heard you can put 28's on the windsor hour, but i haven't tried it myself. honestly though, i dont think it will make that big of a difference. When i had my windsor hour and my jamis aurora elite at the same time, i thought the jamis was much more comfortable because of the 700x32 tires, but i changed them to 700x23 and the jamis was still a LOT more comfortable than the windsor hour. pretty sure its just the quality of the frame that really makes the difference.

the 28's will be slightly more comfortable because u can run lower pressures, but dont expect anything drastic.

Yeah, I'm not expecting a world of difference, but I would like to worry a little less about flatting. I know it's a compound issue there as well, but there's plenty of possibility for pinch flats along my route to work and cracks, etc, that a wider tire would help with. Also I have to ride on sidewalks quite a bit (Miami drivers are insane,) so hopping up curbs, I think a 28 could take a bit more abuse.

i say just support ur LBS and buy ur tires from them, and if they dont fit then u can just return them. Also, if the 28's DO fit, let all of us here know! and pics too!

I support my lbs all the time...they're only 1 block from my house too. But I ordered the tires on nashbar because the lbs doesn't have any 28's in stock right now, and they were super cheap from nashbar.

Sorry no pics yet, but I thought I'd post the update. The tires fit perfectly. And while I said I wasn't expecting a world of difference...I really think there is one. Before I was on 23's with 120 psi and they were bumpy as hell, like riding on steel. Now with only 80 psi and a wider patch, not only are there less bumps I feel, but I don't have to worry as much about cracks in the road or little rises between driveways and street where I would before get a speed check from.

Anyway, my review is simply, these tires are great for me.

good to know these things can accept 28s. what brand 28s did you go with. im assuming not all 28s will fit on these things.

I got Michelin Transworld City's for these. Nashbar has them on sale for $10 per tire, so I figured I wouldn'ty lose too much if they didn't fit.
