Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Ive been bored cuz of my injury, (fractured wrist)
So since i am a relativly new rider, i decided to think bout any problems i hav, and try and get them solved. i dont know if its just me but...
for you clipless riders, when you hit the lip of a jump, (doesnt really hapen to me with drop offs), and your back tire leaves the ground, do your feet sometimes loose there grip/come off the pedals? Happens to me a lot, and sometime causes non-perfect landing.
just wondering if anyone points there feet toward the ground to help keep there grip.

for you clipless riders, .
Clipless means you are conected to the pedal with some sort of cleat retaining system. I believe you mean people who use flats or platforms.
You can point your toes a bit or just learn how to do no footers ;)

haha.. i seem to have that problem too... i was just riding around, and i went down a curb and my foot slipped off my pedal and i went flying....my bike took more damage than me... i warped my rims a bit, my shifters and brake handle got pushed down a bunch, and my handle bars are ever so slightly bent.... which is odd, because i just fell off a curb... being the stupid person i am..
slipping off is reeeeally annoying.. but almost as annoying is being stuck to the pedals and not being able to bail out...

two things, dirtbikedude your confusing me. my head hurts. to me clips is those lil things u put over ur feet, and clipless is just pedals without those lil things. if you try to teach or tell me anything else, i shut u out cuz my lil brain cant understand anything. But i think you know what i mean dirtbikedude, anyone who doesnt use things to literally attach themselves to their pedals.
This isnt sumthing that me getting actual bike shoes will fix, is it?

Clipless pedals are the ones that require bike shoes which clip in to the pedal (don't ask me why they're called clipless). It sounds like you're describing pedals with straps.

Just get clipless pedals and you'll never have to worry about anything again....Once you go clipless, your WHOLE world changes

o i get it.
so i should get clipless pedals and the bike shoes? will real cheap bike shoes -- like ones from BOBS, (My bobs store carries a lot of bike stuff becuz of the huge biking community), and i shouldnt have footing problems?
also doenst that make it hard to bail out?
and also what kind of pedals do you guys have? Straps -- hopefully not, platforms, or clipless

Depends on what kind of riding I'll be doing. If it's mostly XC, then I'll put my Time A.T.A.C.'s on my bike and ride clipless.
If I'm going to do more FR (what I call aggro XC) where I'll hit some drops, chutes or jumps, I'll ride with my platforms.
BTW, the last picture above labeled "Straps" should actually be "Toe Clips". The metal or plastic thing your foot slides into is called a CLIP. Which is why the spring loaded cleated pedals/shoes are called CLIPLESS!
Personally I always hated that name. They should've called them Binders or something similar to a snow ski.
