Foo - So how do you like your showers?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Just wondering...
I like mine warm (between 90-100 degrees) and long and with lots and lots of soap.

Hot shower. Loooooooong hot shower. I love to stand there and let my whole thirsty body absorb every life giving healthy drop of goodness as possible. Making sure every inch of my body is wet. Then I shampoo. Letting the shampoo ooze out of the container, I work it in with the utmost of care. I take it easy with my hair because I have to treat it gently. Suds all over to where it envelops every strand, every part of my scalp. Massage it deeply oh so generously to take full advantage of the smooth and thick lather. Then rinse, with the penetrating hot temperature, sure to open every shaft of hair and every pore in my scalp and get the sebum flowing. Then I apply conditioner. Generous amounts of that moisture giving complex, enabling my hair to suck in every iota of vitamins and protein that it possibly can, to result in the slippery, smooth hair that I cherish so much.
Then rinse again. Leaving it free from any kind of residue, my hair will smell so.... clean and fresh....
Then comes the soaping. Alllll over. Until there are clean bubbles all over and completely covering my body. Then as I let the clear water slowly dissipate the suds, I enjoy every moment of feeling the water running down.
Half hour. No less. ;)

I like my showers like I like my women... hot and steamy.
I could never over shampoo my head or else my hair would dry out.
I always like the showers and baths to be mild, not too hot, not too warm. around 35c
I like my showers warm and quick. That way I can spend more time shaving. :D

Hot showers are heaven when it is cold out. Hot baths even better. I can't wait to have a huge tub that I can lounge in. Soaking is bliss.

cold showers are the best things on really sticky hot days.

Warm and 5 minutes.
We're on a cistern. Water conservation postpones the next water delivery.
If we can get the well going and it produces, showers might get a bit longer, but it still burns fuel to heat water.
Shame on you environmentally irresponsible long shower takers. You're the SUV's of bathing. :innocent:

Bigger cistern and a Solar Water Heater?

Bigger cistern and a Solar Water Heater?
The cistern is already 3000 gallons. Solar heating works poorly under 2' of snow.
We're about as efficient as a fuel-based system gets with a 98% on-demand water heating system, but I still don't see the point in taking long showers. That's like driving across the US at 20 MPH so you can enjoy the trip longer.
But... what if you are offered a backrub while under the hot shower? :D

Well, a certain someone has evidence, but it isn't photographic. :p
Oh, and I like my showers hot... but not too hot. Hehe.
with my wife was not on the poll.
I miss my bathtub. :(
Forced to shower in a narrow shower stall where my elbows hit the walls all the time. :( But I must say - roommate has his hot water heater cranked up because I get HOT water! And yeah, I likes to steam the place up!

I never got out of the habit of quick utilitarian showers that I took while in the military.
I never was on a ship, so I never did the turning the water off between getting wet and rinsing, but I am pretty efficient otherwise.
If anyone takes more than about 7 or 8 minutes in a shower, I always wonder what they are doing, because I know what I used to do when my showers were longer than necessary. ;)

one of my favorite Japanese customs.....shower with warm water for under 5 minutes if not shampooing, soaking in hot bath water for 15 to 30 minutes and then a quick shower rinse with shaving my legs if needed

Another obvious missed poll option, "with a friend"
My washer and dryer are in my bathroom.
On cold days I'll throw my towel in the dryer before I start the shower.
Dryer warmed towels, oh sweet decadence.

Or "naked" was another obvious poll option that should have been there.
What dorks come up with these poorly written polls?

After thinking about it, this should have been a whole survey... Length of time, water temperature, types of cleaning solutions/soaps/lotions, companions, toys, time of day, condiments...

I like warm showers and don't like to take long showers. If I want to relax in the tub, I take a hot and soapy bubblebath.

Actually, her post did absolutely nothing for me. Nothing can override the thought of showering with my wife in 99 degree temperatures as long as the water heater can take it--or until the baby starts crying.
