I'm in the market for a GPS but the Garmin 705 at a price of $350-$500 is WAY out of my price range.
Is there a review which breaks down the GPS according to price? Kind of like the light review?

The Edge 705 is the Garmin's top-of-the-line model. Their web site discusses their cheaper models as well, including which features the cheaper models do not have. Also look at GPS units designed for hiking since those are much cheaper, though they are more bulky and lack the bike/fitness features like cadence or heart rate.
