I bought their Swiss Kickstand and somehow I managed to lose the bolt and washer. (I'll find them 10 years from now in some bizarre place). So I emailed Rivendell and asked what size the bolt was, hoping I could find one at Home Depot or on-line. And the guy says, "I have one on my desk, do you want me to just send it to you?" And two days later I had it, no extra charge even for shipping.

I made it very clear that I had lost it. It wasn't their fault at all, but they really helped me out. Next time I need something for my bike I'll check them out first!

I've had so much good stuff to say about Rivendell I'm beginning to be embarrassed by it, but I've been dealing with them since 2003, and they've always been great.
Just for example, I bought a rear wheel from them for my Atlantis, which I'd originally built with garage parts. I weigh about 230, and after a few months/2000 miles, I couldn't keep it true. Turned out the spoke nips were pulling out of the rim (possibly my fault--I'm a decent mechanic but lousy wheelbuilder, and I may have overtensioned).
I emailed Riv to ask if they carried a stronger wheel, describing the situation just as I have here--not their fault, maybe mine, can you give me a recommendation?
Rich Lesnik, their wheel guy, told me what he wanted to do, and I told him to go ahead. When the wheel came (two days later), they'd deducted $75, without any discussion or complaints. The wheel has at least 5000 miles on it, much of it on bad or dirt roads, and it's never been touched.

I haven't dealt with Rivendell, but it's good to hear that they're giving high quality with their prices. I have no problem with that, even if it's not a good fit for me.

Their Rol-y Pol-y and Ruffy Tuffy tires are excellent, as is their service. They win my continued business.
