Umm I watched someone do that not to long ago. He thought it was funny although noone was laughing when Jesse got up. Shane did not either about 10 minutes later. He got smacked on the back of the head with a toolbox.

Never done the spoke thing but once in a rented car going 50 mph I threw it into reverse to see what happens.

I was, and still am, a firm believer that rental cars are meant to be test driven. How else are auto companys to gain real life feedback?

im not sure you could ever call someone who would do something like that a freind. if you were moving at any kind of speed its the kind of thing that just might kill you. not sure why anyone over the age of 6 or 7 might think somethin like that was funny.

i once threw a rented 2000 Hyundia Sonata into reverse at about 50, the reverse lights came on but the trannsmission wouldnt engage, it must know not to at that speed, you have to do it in an older car.

My friend rented a Kia once - or his company did - I tried to tear azz in it, but it wouldn't accelerate much at all... so I got it going as fast as I could and just pulled the e-brake... now... as we were leaving - I was in my car - and the Kia was behind me... and I heard a most god-awful noise - the kia had been thrown into reverse... it still worked though...

Nah, I think it's more fun and sporting to just fire a couple of shots at them as we ride along. It's safer, too. Stick something in their spokes and someone is going down hard and probably getting hurt, but the chances are pretty good you are going to miss them firing from a moving bicycle. AND you get to see the startled look, which you can't see if their face is planted on the street. Besides, it's hard to hide a stick while you ride, but a handgun fits neatly in a pocket or waistband.

You have to put yourself in the mindset of the psuedo anarchist/kerouac/bukowski fixated on the adolescent stage of rebelling and shock to establish my own identity even if it makes me look like an idiot.

I heard that story from someone at the LBS, a pipe or something got throw up and this guy's carbon fork cracked in half.

I prefer to cut my friends brake cables (geared bike) when he's not looking. It's an old trick, but he falls for it every time (literally). He almost got hit by a truck the other day because of this, I’m such a great practical joker……..

Well, my post itself was really a joke, got some good conversation going though, uh, sort of..

Closest thing to this that ever happened to me was I was riding behind two other people, and one of them yanked the other's handlebars, causing them to go down, and then I crashed into them and went down myself. It was funny and no one was hurt. Also one time I was trying to kick into my pedals and somehow missed and managed to stick my foot in my front wheel. I went over the bars then and it was also funny. Had to get my wheel trued though.

Actually, I've seen people make a point of trying to do this to riders participating in a periodic local event called the 'derby', as in bicycle demolition derby. The last cyclist rolling wins. Usually performed by drunk riders on disposable bikes. Flying bike wheels, bottle rockets and the bonfire are other hazards that must be avoided during a derby.... :D

Wait, wasn't that a scene in "Breaking Away" where one of the Italian team members uses a bicycle pump on the protagonists' bike wheel? I saw the movie about 20 years ago, so my memory may be a bit faulty.

I always wanted to know what happens if you try to nudge the cyclist ahead of you's rear wheel with your own front wheel.

Where am I?

I would think that the end result would be you going down to the ground in a not so pleasant fashion while the other person just keeps on going.
