I'm going to need to get a new rear rim soon on my Bighit, because my singletrack is in pretty bad condition, with flat spots and dents.

What I want to know is some companies or specific rims that would be good to go on a freeride and DH race bike. The rim will be for the rear and be in 24inch form.

Also what is a good 24inch tire. Used mainly on hardpack surface but will also ocassionaly be used on mud. Also want it to be a hard compound as it will be ridden on roads to get to tracks. I found it pretty hard to get a good 24inch tire, ended up going for a highroller ST (didn't want supertacky but that was all that was left)

Also I don't want to be spending huge amounts of money for this, max on tire about $60 maybe $70 (Australian) and for the rim about $200 max, not including labour for build.

Arrow racing makes one of the best 24" rims. I believe Atom Labs also makes a 24". I know Alex makes a 24, but the quality isn't nearly as good.

As far as tires for a 24", again, Arrow makes a wide selection and Intense is making a lot more 24" tires.

I agree with a2psyklnut! But would like to throw in....Why not get another single track? I run them and love them. Oh! for a rear tire get the Maxxis High Roller. I run them and they are like a jack of all trades and master of none. They hook up well. You can get them in various sizes I would recommend a 2.5 or 2.7.

Well Sun makes 24 inch rims, Arrow and Atom Labs like mentioned above, Halo and Bombshell are another option. For tires see above but also Halo, IRC, Kenda, and Nokian.
