Left home this morning to ride into work, before dawn, 6:45 a.m....started climbing the hill out of my neighborhood and the chain breaks.*

Coast down hill, open garage, switch lights to another bike, off we go.

I hope my bike butler is fixing the chain while I'm at work...

* Caused by either unbelievable wattage produced by yours truly, or a very ill-advised shift that resulted in a dropped chain that got caught between chainrings, depending on how I tell the story.

The number of times I have got the bike out of the shed- checked it before the ride- had a final cup of coffee and then got on the bike only to find something wrong. Sudden flats or gears not feeling right or wheels out of true.Rather than take time to sort the bike out- it is wheeled back in the shed and another taken off the rafters.

Only problem then is I have two bikes to sort after the ride.
