Electric Bikes - Here is the kit that I've decided on

well, after much debating and researching. I think I've decided on this

Phoenix Racer 4840 kit for $800 (might be more after accessories)

And then a battery either from here

Both websites claim that it's capable of handling the the 5303 motor. What do you guys think of the batteryspace battery? The website claimed that it could handle up to 2900 watts or something like that or maybe it 2500 watts.

Seems I recall the Phoenix system folks claiming certain (ping?) batteries would not work with their system. I'd check with them to be sure. It's a lot of cash is all I'm saying.

I'm not sure this is a ping battery because it's 51.2 V and there is no 51.2 v battery on Ping's website. But anyway, if it doesn't work, I'll just buy a different motor. Keep the battery because I like the fact that it's only 10lbs and then just get BMC hub or something.

Neither of those are ping batteries. Only Ping sells ping batteries.

Those both look like good choices.

These are two different types of batteries. The battery space battery is not a LiFePO battery and is not as stable and may not last as long. I would go with the Hi powercycle battery.

It's not Lithium, but I've been running the Batteryspace NiMh 36V 13A battery for almost 2 years of daily use on My TidalForce MTB. Pretty tough.

I'm about to switch over my 5303 Racer Hub, 4840 controller, and 10A 48V DeWalt A123 pack from the trike, on to the TidalForce bike, so I'd be interested to see how yours works out.

The Racer was impressive on my 200Lb trike, should be great on my 60Lb bike.

Unfortunately I didn't.

I bought 11 regular DeWalt 36V packs off E-bay with ten cells in each, cut and reformed them into 12V packs, series and paralleled those into 48V 10A pack. (Had some extra cells left over, 5 of 110 were bad and wouldn't charge.)

Bought 4 - 12V LiFePo Smartchargers from Batterspace for charging. I don't run any BMS, just watch the overall pack voltage closely to avoid dipping under 48V, which is discharged voltage.

Just make sure your rated amperage is OK.

the first pack you linked to in post#1 is rated at 30 amps, it looks like.

If that's all you want (30 amps x 50 volts is 1500 watts) then you're good to go.

Do not confuse AMPS and AMP HOURS. They're not the same at all.
