I used to just use my Black and Decker workbench to support the bike, but as Edinburgh Bicycle Coop had a sale and the Minoura bike workstand was reduced from £50 to £24.95, I bought one.

It certainly made my commuting maintenance easier as the bike is lifted to waist height.

Also it is a beautiful way to display my Flying Scot - if only the missus would let me put it in the living room. By storing the Scot on the stand it gives more space in the garage as my other bike can sit below it.

Mark, I'm sorry the sale wasn't a few weeks earlier as it would have meant I had better facilities to allow you to service your bike. :)

Congrats! I can never figure the exchange rate, but 50% off anything is a good price. I've used A Minoura for many years.

All right Chewa, that sounds really good, it will make maintenance a lot easier.
Is it a stand wich clamps the seatpost or is it the one wich clamps the BB area?
In France i`ve worked whit the last one, really good because you can circle around your bike with enough space.
No need for the sorry, i was really pleased to do maintenance in a good and DRY place :)
I`ve posted a link to my pics in the touring forum, check it out if you want.

You're going to love it, Chewa. It makes a huge difference.

I was using a table mounted wind trainer for bike maintenance before I purchased a work stand.

Don't know why I waited so long.

It's one which supports the bike along the down tube with a hook around the seat tube.

This works better for me, because the Scot has a grease nipple which protrudes under the BB shell.
