Classic & Vintage - is the an aftermarket Raleigh BB for 26 tpi?

I thought you had to make one of these yourself. This guy has them on ebay, or am i missing something?

I don't see anything in that ad about the BB being 26tpi threading. I imagine these BBs are for new Raleighs, not the 26tpi ones!

yeah, that's what I was thinking, but do new raleighs take a special BB size? I should probably email the seller? Dur I will do that and get back with info (if so, hello new bb).

That looks like a generic Shimano UN13 or UN25 bottom bracket. The "Raleigh" in it is likely just name tagging. About the only 26tpi anything anymore are the Phil Wood BB cups for use with a Phil Wood BB or a Shimano UN72 (I think).

About the best price I have found for the Phil Wood items is lickbike.com. I just ordered a Phil Wood BB and French cups from them.

Before I spent the money on a Phil Wood solution for a 26 TPI Raleigh, I would have the bottom bracket (provided it's thick enough) refaced to be 70 mm wide (if it's 71) and retapped to be Italian thread (36 x 24 TPI). Even if the BB housing is only 68, you can always add a couple steel shims (such as Sturmey-Archer cog shims) to pad it out to 70 width. IRD sells reasonably-priced cartridge bearing BBs with English cups, but they also sell Italian cups for $20 that work with the same unit. Now I think that's a lot cheaper than PW anything. No offense to Phil Wood; his stuff is wonderful, but it's also molto caro.

In case that link does not work it is a YST Threadless Cartridge Bottom Bracket 68 x 110. It apparently does not us the BB threads but clamps in instead. Of course for a Raleigh Sports you would need a 70mm version.
