WOW! I'll definitely try to be there for that one...
Thanks for the heads up!

I may have to come down with some 24-hour flu on Monday night.
Anyone going to this tonight?
I just got back! Greg was funny- we both have the same friend, so I mentioned that when I got to meet him (second in line since 3:15pm). We chatted for a few minutes- one thing about Greg is that he doesn't rush, he likes to talk, and he was so flattered when he got there and saw the line was about 50 or so people strong. When he sat, we all clapped, and he said something like "Are you all sure you're not here for Lance?". I said something like "oh gosh, gotta go then!", and he laughed some more. Then at the end of our conversation, he signed the posters (complimentary from the store and friggin awesome!), and I had him write something totally funny and full of slang, so that got him laughing again. Then we took pictures with my professional camera, and then he let me take a picture of him with my camera phone so I could have his face on my camera screensaver.
He was a funny dude, and totally awesome. He was totally like "feel free to hang with me after the signing", but I was totally tired and I had a long day tomorrow, so I just told him to come on back to Chicago sometime and hang out with us Chicagoeans!
It was such a cool experience, and he is sooooooo cooooooool! Awesome end to the day!

I've never had the pleasure of meeting him but have talked to several people that have..... they all basically say the same thing you did Koffee. Greg is a class act through and through.
Drat. I wanted to go but had other commitments. :(

Whoa. Wait. Whoa. He asked you hang out, and you didn't? Short of being in a coma... nothing would have kept me from hanging with Lemond. Come on!
You'd have stayed if it was Lance. ;) :p

OH MAAAAANNNNNN!!!!! I wish I would have seen this post yesterday. I haven't taken a sick day for 5 years but I would to go see Greg Lemond. He used to show up and ride the Chicago To Milwaukee (Lemond) charity ride that used to be held every year. My buddies and I got a pic with him one year. The guy is definitely down to earth and one of the most genuine people I have ever met. Very cool.
Does anyone know if Greg is doing any other promotional stops? I really wanted to go but just couldn't.
When I talked to him, he indicated he was just here for the store opening. I think I remember him saying he was going home after this.
Man, I would have hung... there were others he said could hang too, and they were just talking a mile a minute, and we were on the side there waiting, and all of a sudden, I was just thinking about how tired I was and how my next day was going to be longer than today, so I just said bye and told him to come back to Chicago soon. I think he really liked Chicago- he certainly does like riding the lakefront bike path, though he said the wind was crazy. Hopefully, he will return and bring his bike too- that would be cool!
Tree Trunk, you are so right. He is just the nicest guy- totally down to earth and just always walking with a smile on his face... and those eyes are just so big and bright and intense... just a really nice guy... :)
Koffee - if you were 2nd in line, I was 3 behind you. LeMond is the man and I've got the poster to prove it. There was an awesome turn out. Did you say "hi" to Marcus too? jeff
I didn't see Marcus in line- if he was there, I wasn't aware of it. I was too startstruck!
I think I remember you. Either you were the one he took the picture with, or you were the one taking the picture of LeMond with the camera.
Wasn't he cool?

It's nice to know that some famous people are people first and famous second! Greg Lemond sounds like the kind of guy any cyclist would love to hang with. Next time you see him, tell him TrekRider is a devoted Lemond rider and wouldn't swap for any other bike, bar none!
