It appears to be a 1995....maybe? I say this as this is all I found on it http://www.bikepedia.com/QuickBike/B...port&Type=bike Im going to slap a set of slicks on it and see how she handles. If I like it it'll be my first hardtail keeper. If not I guess I'll have to flip her. Any info would be appreciated :thumb:

ILB, have you tried determining the date of the bike using the date codes on the backs of the derailers? You can compare the two letter date codes to the code list on vintage-trek.com (search in the component section found on the left side of the home page).
It looks like a mid-90's bike to me and the description in BikePedia lines up well. I had the same crankset on a 96 GF HooKooEKoo and a 97 GF Tassahara.
My only concern with that era would be the shock. If it's the original spring shock it might be soft by now. If it's elastomer, the elastomers may not be flexible. It's a 1 1/8 head set so you can replace the shock with something newer. I use ebay or CL to find good used shocks for that vintage bike.
Those old steel framed MTBs offer a softer ride than the new aluminum frames. But the geometry is dated. Still, I like my old steel HooKooEKoo for light cross country rides.

You may consider this a keeper. My '00 Response is my dedicated road beater which does not have as nice of components. I ditched the shot RST fork and went with a rigid fork, added slicks, rider bars, a rack and it's been a great ride.

Here are a few pics of the DB with street tires, clipless pedals, and bar ends. They (the bar ends) look like the old ones but if you look at the pics the old ones were really beat. Its all used stuff I had laying around but it works. :thumb: Havnt cleaned it up but will soon :o :D
