Bicycle Mechanics - supercycle.bikes?

hi all.

here in canada we have store call canadian tire.

they sell there own brand...supercycle.

look into the link and you will see some supercycle bikes.

i dont think they make there own bike..so ho or what company makes those bikes.?

CTC used to sell CCM bikes in the 60's and 70's.
I used up a lot of those bike during my younger years.
I can't say for sure but I think some CTC bikes are produced by Schwinn.

You can be certain they don't make their own bikes and likely source them from somewhere in Asia from whatever supplier offers the best price. I know nothing about them (the link to CTC wants a postal code to show anything and I don't think my US Zip code will work) but I assume they sell the same low quality bikes that large chains do here.

Supercycle bikes are made by Asian (probably mostly chinese, vietnamese, malaysian...) factories who produce cheap bikes for markets all over the world.

There is nothing wrong with cheap bikes, per se, but much of the meager cost of producing Supercycles goes toward crappy rear suspension systems, cheap disc brakes, generally nonfunctioning suspension forks.

A $300 supercycle can be considered a waste of $300, where a simple $300 bike shop hybrid or mtb can be a very nice budget bike.

Wherever their made (Supercycle) the Falcon components turn people right offem.

Thats the same bike as the GMC Denali made by Kent Bicycles. It is also sold at Walmart, Target, etc

Supercycles used to be made by Raleigh in Quebec. Now they're sourced out of China.
Either way, they're heavy, cheap, characterless bikes. And the ones with non-Shimano stuff on them are disposable POSes.

There was a time when one could buy a 105 equipped Steve Bauer from Canadian Tire. Tange tubed. Nothing fantastic, but I doubt a CTC bike will approach that level again.
