Northern California - Friday Feb 13, Pre-TOC, NorCal Ride

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

EDIT: Looks like we might actually have a window to get the ride in!

Pending weather (rain, showers, etc. cancels), we'll have a ride. Leaving from the parking area just outside Hagan Park in Rancho Cordova. 9:30 start time.

The route will start on the ARBT, then head up Iron Point and over the top, down Empire Ranch for a bit, then a right and up and over the ridge to El Dorado Hills. From there, we'll head up to Green Valley and E Natoma into Folsom. Lunch at Karen's Bakery. Pending how folks feel after lunch, we'll either extend the ride and add a loop up to Loomis, or we'll head back by continuing the ARBT to the N side of Lake Natoma.

Short ride is 45 miles, 2500 feet. Longer version is ~65 miles and 3200 feet.

From 50, heading East from Sac....

Exit on Mather Field.
Left (North) at the light at the top of the ramp.
Right on Folsom Blvd (2nd light I think).
Left on Coloma (at a light). Just after passing the Raley's grocery on left.
Left on Chase (at a light).
Park on right just after the high school, and just before entering Hagan Park.

PM me for my phone number if you'd like it.

I made this offer in another thread, thought I'd throw it here too.

We have room for a few if anyone wants to stay over Friday night for the prologue the next day and wants to join in the pre-prologue ride. Bonus is that I'll feed you Friday night, you bring the wine ;).

Oh now you tell me. Oops, can't do it anyways ... gotta be in Sac no later than noon for Course Marshall duties. Oh well.

And just so y'all know, this ride originated because Joel was kind enough to offer to show us Okies some of the local riding in the area. We are coming out to watch the Tour of Ca and on the following days, we are riding the first three stages of the race, well at least the last half of the stages. So if you want to come out and watch the flatlanders suffer, this is your chance!!

I'll do the long ride with you. I've never ridden in Sac so someone else will have to be my tour guide.

Oh how the flatlanders will suffer! Ok, I'm not going to kill you, I hope. I also hope you have something a little bigger than a 23 in back or you'll be . But some of the hills are in the following profile. I'll leave it to you to guess which :roflmao2:

The forecast is calling for rain on Friday. In that event, the ride will be cancelled. I'll post here Friday morning. Or PM me for my phone number if you'd prefer to call to check before heading out.
