Hey all....
Just bought a schwinn Madison without any brakes. I'm looking to install a front brake. Anyone have a cheap kit solution? Never installed before... Is it tough?

any brake will work pretty much. What do you have for bars? Check out bikeisland for stuff:thumb:

My lbs has a box of unwated crap, there's like 10 brakes in there right now! Ebay will have something for a few bucks. Just make sure it looks like an upside down horseshoe not a V.

As for BMX brakes, I don't know. I know that I personally used a lever to pry open the hole diameter in a bmx lever and mounted that on road bars. (I stuck a really strong found file in the hole, put on work gloves and pried it open). So the lever can work. If the brake itself will work too (I dunno) then yes, otherwise..no.

I'd hit the LBS and see what they've got in the way of used brakes. Sometimes people upgrade and leave the old stuff at the bike shop. Just make sure the pads are in good shape. Or the bike co-op, if there's one in town.

Any ideas on what kind of brake lever you want to use and where to put it?
This is a cyclocross lever, or interrupter lever. You can use it with or without the drop bar "aero" lever.

i use this. should fit your bars, 25.4mm
10 minutes should do it. it was my first time, easy peasy. you need something to cut the housing in a clean way, otherwise you will damage it
