First time poster here, so hopefully I'm not in the wrong place.

I just found this bike and thought it would be pretty cool after some TLC. Someone really butchered the paintjob, so I'd really like to get that redone, but I imagine quite a bit could be fixed up on this. Any suggestions / ideas for it? Also, is there anywhere I could go to find a picture of an original Indian headbadge?

Thanks guys!

Welcome to C&V. You are in the right place. I don't know a thing about your bike but I'd love to the rest of the bike. It looks really neat. More pictures please!

Is this the one that had been previously posted as being offered for sale at $100? That one, if I recall, did not have fenders or chain guard.
From: WWW.speedace.info (http://www.speedace.info)

"Another bizarre-but-true 1948 story is that that year and for a couple of years after, Indian imported 3 speed bicycles from Britain and called them Indians. Obviously this venture was a failure as these bicycles are very rarely seen. " (until you showed it to us!)

Oh, I guess I should've mentioned that the image is also a link to a gallery. Woops!

I think it is the same one. I talked the guy down on the price a bit, but I thought it looked to interesting to pass.

Off topic a little but Indian also began selling Royal Enfield motorcycles as Indians sometime in the mid to late 50"s. I am still saddened that the U.S. lost the Indian mark.

That looks a lot like an english Indian to me. Here's a good site for those;

There was a fellow who posted one of those on the CABE last year;

They know more about the American Indians but if youlook around there, you should find that English Indian.
Good, simple, useful, stylish, fun bike.

That last picture look to have a bent fork in it.

I'd love to get my hands on one of these (sans the bent fork). The Indian motorcycles were/are very popular with friends of mine. They are Indians (Me too - part), and those would be great!

I hope you do a great restoration!

That...is...fricking...SWEEET!

BTW, Dit, a friend of the family got an old Indian that was a basketcase (literally came in about 100 boxes) complete with sidecar. He restored it, and now drives it around town. Better sounding than a Harley, IMO. Also, Indian has started back up and is building new motorcycles, if you didn't know.
