Rain or shine there's always a paceline...

That may be, but I don't :twitchy:

If it's too wet, I won't be out. Of course, I'll determine what I mean by "too wet" :innocent:

Oooh boy! ToC fever has got me. I just learned that a soon-to-be-named team is doing a meet and greet at my place of business. I volunteered to do anything to be involved. Sa-weeet!

Wow, it's actually on the weekend for once. Last few years, it's been mid-day, mid-week. I might actually be able to tag along for this.

i believe the ATOC has always started on a weekend. i know the prologue last year in palo alto was on a sunday (feb 17).

Where are you staying?

econo-lodge. the room cost me about $135 for two night. in a place like monterey i would have paid that much per night for a friday and saturday .

my wife stayed there when she ran the california international marathon .... and she's damn picky .

Hey all, if it rains MyLilPony and I are not going to drag the bikes in for the BF ride. I just don't want to haul them to Sacto , wear rain clothes, then walk around soggy all day.

Totally understandable. I was kidding about the rain or shine comment above. If it's more than drizzling on Saturday I'll be taking Light Rail down to the festivities.

If the weather is fair I'm curious as to who all is coming ride at 10am..? Roll call!

I'm taking my bike in to have the hub looked at tomorrow morning. It should be taken care of so if the weather is good, I'm there. After spending the last few days in Atlanta, and eating nothing but fried foods (I'd be so fat if I lived in the south), I need to ride, so I'll probably ride even if the weather sucks.

If there is nothing falling out of the sky, I'll be at the ride.

I have 3 options and I don't know what's gonna happen yet:
a) If the wife is coming, then I won't be able to ride my bike in. Instead, I'll be pushing a baby stroller with the kid.
b) If the wife doesn't come along, and there is none or a light rain then I'll ride in along the ARBT from Folsom.
c) If it is super-raining, then I'll probably use the light rail.
So I'll figure it out on Friday and update.

I'm going to try to make it to the ride on Saturday, but it sounds like if it's raining, I'll be alone. :P

Also looks like it's supposed to be windy that day. That'll make South River Road bundles of fun.

JoelS
02-12-09, 09:37 PM
Looking at all the forecasts, I think we might get enough of a window to get the ride in. I'm still hopeful!

Anyone who's riding down the ARBT to get there, please let me know. We could have an ever growing group as we close in on downtown.

Hmm, I might do this fixed as well. I don't have much in the way of girl jeans, though. :P

dont bother.
regardless of what you wear, sans brake or with brake, if you ride fixed youll be assumed a hipster, caught on an off day when your skinny jeans were in the wash.

with that said, why dont you just sell your fixed, seeing as you dont fit in with us lower class, not even qualified to be called cyclists, since riding fixed is an obvious downgrade to normal cycling.

that way you wont be embarassed when someone mislabels you again. :thumb:

Umm. One half of the ride will be a blast and the other you get blasted. Focus on positives... :p

I just put my set of Maxxis Re-Fuse on the Langster so that's one barrier to not riding out of the way. The last thing I want to do is fix a flat in the rain. I'll be there man. I'll be there no matter what. 10am railroad museum.

Would it be possible to structure the ride such that the first half is in to the wind and the way back is super fun times? :D

Winds from the SSE so I think that works out. I plan on being there.

Same here! Guess I'll be buying my own coffee though.

The wind/cold is gonna make this interesting (notice I left out rain). Are you fixers ready for some climbing?

I'll be there when I get there. I'm leaving here at 8:30 and plan to take it real easy. Only about 15mi down.

Hey, PM me a cell phone number just in case I get a flat and end up running a bit late.

Despite blowing up personally (Nutritionally and hydrationally challenged, was I.) as well as the bike (I think I put the wheel back on crooked, because the brake was dragging all the way back to Jefferson), that was a fun ride. At a little under 40 miles total, that's the longest ride I've done fixed (and the longest I've done in months, period. :o).

doh. Good to meet you today though. I had a blast riding today. Glad I showed up to a BF ride for once :o
