I'm 64, and stated riding about 3 months ago. I’m trying to lose some weight and lower my blood pressure, and get off of the bp medicine. I have always worked on mechanical things, and am currently reworking my used 1996 Trek 5000 OCLV 8 Speed Bike. I'm replacing the drive train, stem & bar, seat, wheels, and shifter cables. Hopefully this will help me get over some of the numbers hills on my local ride. I live in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains, so there is a lot of hills on any ride even out my driveway. I’ve been studying about training, nutrition, and bike building in the different threads on this forum, trying to learn all I can.
