Hello guys,

I'm cycling from Buffalo, NY to the OuterBanks, NC in August. I could use some help on the route. Which route would be better? Going through Delaware and hugging the east coast or going through DC. I found some good links on Washington but found very little on Delaware.

How is the traffic on Delaware?
Is Delaware a scenic state?

I mostly looking for the most scenic route in which I can bang out some miles. I'll be traveling with a road bike with thin tires so unfortuntely ungroomed trails will not do.

You'll have less traffic on the Delmarva peninsula than if you come down through Baltimore and DC. But you would need to get over the Bay Bridge which definitely doesn't allow bikes. You could ride to Crisfield Md and take a ferry to Va. Adventure Cycling has an Atlantic coast route which may be the way to go. I imagine you would pick it up in Philadelphia, maybe a bit further north.
