My winter bike: I have some generic track wheels from a KHS flite100. The rims are weinmann sp 17. I don't know the exact width size (but they don't look wide). Anyways, I put 700ccx35mm tires (both vittorias and panaracers) on them. They seem to fit fine and ride good. It feels better than the smaller ones I had before. My question: whats the danger in going too big of a tire for the wheel? Will they pop off if I hit a curb too hard or something? I'd like to stay as big and wide as I can. My goal is to have an indestructable ride that goes anywhere. I just want to know if these tires are too big and something could happen. BTW here's how they look:

I'm betting it's fine with a 35C on them. You could measure the rim across from underneath with a caliper and post the result. But if they are not tiny racing rims, you should be fine.

EDIT: Here is a link to a production bike with exactly what you have there - with 35C tires as standard equipment:

Your rims have an interior width of 17mm which is wide enough for 35mm tires.

Just don't try a pair of Big Apples next. It's only when you really exceed recommended tire width that you start having troubles.

You'll be OK with 35C tires on a rim with a 17mm interior width.

It looks identical to the Selle San Marco Regal that I have.
