Northern California - Anyone doing the Breakaway From Cancer Ride?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

The subject line kind of says it all, doesn't it?
All I wanted to know was if anyone would be there so we could say "Howdy..."

huh? why'd you sorta nuke yer post?
anyways to answer your question: I've ridden it twice. My former company was a sponsor. It's one of those leisurely charity rides but it's fun. On both occasions the route was in and around the western part of SF and I saw some cycling and movie/tv celebrities. It's pretty well run.

Why? Over 25 views and not one response.
And it's not like the subject line was all that ambiguous.
So, what were people expecting to see?
Ergo, the comment about "lack of interest" and my deleting the content (which wasn't much beyond "maybe we can get together and say hello"... I can take a hint: Don't post where ya don't belong...)

You shouldn't feel that way. Probably noone else is doing that ride but I admire anyone who supports the fight against cancer. If no other BFer is doing the Breakaway ride, maybe you can meet up at one of the rides where more BFers are gathering. Keep a good attitude and your spirits up.

Agreed. It's nothing personal that no-one is responding to the ride/meet-up. I've seen ride proposals being viewed many times with no commitments, and not even "sorry can't make it" comments. It's all good, at the end of the day.

I wouldn't be offended by 25 views with no responses. That's really not many views at all. Now, if you had 500 views and no responses, you might be onto something. With no link, you'll get even less responses, so I'll help you out:

I will most likely not be able to do that ride. Have fun!

Well, that comment was supposed to be a bit tongue-in-cheek. 'Course that doesn't translate well in print. Oh well... Still, most of you guys are far, far beyond me in ability so it's not entirely off the mark.
Thanks for adding the link... I guess the one I have at the bottom of the page -the one that says "Send me money"- isn't quite obvious enough? How about now?

That's a bit... direct. How about "Please support my fund raising for Cancer Research (http://www.breakawayfromcancer.com/event-02-08-09.php)"?

Well, I am a bit direct and I have a somewhat droll and snarky sense of humor.
You have to know me ;)
No need to delete. I often post ride notices and it's rare that anyone joins in. That doesn't stop me from continuing to do so.
Have fun on the ride!
I just saw this. My daughter and I are doing this ride. She lives in SF .... I'm getting up at the butt crack of dawn and driving up that morning from Madera. Any idea how many participants there will be?

When I did it last year, I'd guess there were 300 hundred or so folks participating.
I thought of riding there and back from my house... it would be about a 40 or 50 mile ride
but at my speeds uphill, I'd have to get up around 4 AM. Nuh-uh... I'll find a way to compromise

I was considering this actually, but I will be racing in Napa that day.
