Hi all i'm new here only one question : I'm thinking to commute 35 miles a day in total, does any one know if with a dahon speed pro tt would be manageable to do it 4 days a week?
thanks

I have a speed pro TT and commute a little under that about 4 days/week on average. I've been doing this for about 9 months with the speed pro and, so far, it has held up very well. The speed pro TT is a great bike. However, like all folders, you've got to give it a bit of tender loving care. It rides like a dream and I reach speeds comparable to what I do on my full size Trek road bike. However, I would recommend changing out the brake pads for something with better stopping power. Folders all have weaker braking systems because of the longer cables they require. I put on some Salmon Kool Stop Brake pads and they work SO much better, especially when it's damp/raining out.
In addition, consider changing out the tires. I didn't have any problems with the tires the bike came with, but a lot of people told me that they are more prone to flats. I recently changed them out with some more durable ones. Also, be sure that you know how to change that back tire in a pinch. It's tricky to get off and requires that you have a wrench. If you're commuting that distance, you want to make sure that you have all the necessary tools handy to make the change.
Be sure to clean the speed pro TT frequently if you're doing that kind of mileage. I keep mine sparkling clean and have relatively few issues. A coworker of mine also has a speed pro (slightly older model) and had a lot of gearing issues which he thinks has been the result of not cleaning it as often as he should. At least once each week I really give it a good scrub down. This includes removing that back wheel and cleaning the cassette until it shines.
So, IMO, you should totally go for it and the bike should do just fine. Do be sure to give it a good, visual inspection each day before you hop on. Because folders have more moving parts than a standard bike, you want to just make sure everything is in good working order before taking off, especially when you're covering that kind of distance each day. Hope this helps!
thanks a lot for your handy information infinite y really appreciate!!. i think tomorrow i'm getting one. Do you have any recomendation regarding th tyre ( a bit with puncture proteccion but not too slow) i'm based in uk and this is going to be my first folder.
Thanks again

The schwalbe marathon tire seems to be the de facto standard in fastish/toughish folding bike tires. the marathon racer and marathon supreme are lighter, faster versions.
The Speed pro should be perfectly well up to the task, I imagine. I haven't owned one, but I've owned other Dahons and they've all performed admirably on long-distance rides.
Marathon Plus are basically puncture proof and if you keep them to say 90psi then they're plenty fast too. Don't worry about puncture in the front, they're relatively rare; so just get a back tyre.
