Does anybody have any experience with the Starter brand wicking shirts that are available at Walmart for less than $10.00? I haven't had a chance to wear mine on a ride yet due to rain, but the shirt looks like a real bargain if it works.

Actually I posted about these. I have like 5 of them. They are my commuting/club ride shirts, and aside from a small being like a large, they are great for when you don't feel like dirtying up a nice jersey. Target has some nice ones too.

I have one too. I use it all the time. Works great. I'm planning on getting more for when I am out on the MTB!

...except that everything at Walmart is made in China...

And the bike I ride was made in Taiwan. Your point?

Awesome! I'll have to check out Target as well. It's great to know that I can buy 5 of these for the price of a "real" cycling jersey. :D

I use them for short rides around home (20 miles or less) but on long rides I want my rear pockets...

I'll confess to having some of these shirts also! :o I have one of the long sleave ones with no zipper I use in the winter as an under shirt. I also use the short sleeve ones to commute in and also do night rides. On real road rides I use a regular cycling shirt with the rear pockets. My only complaint is that I have never seen them here in any colour but grey and white. I wish they would get some in bright yellow!

I have two (one dark, one light) of these that I wear for soccer games. They work great for keeping the sweat off. I'm sure (as others have indicated above) that they would be great for cycling too.

Yep, me too. They're just polyester T-shirts, not like cool-max or anything, but they're light, cheap, and dry fast. Which makes them excellent commuter-wear in my book.

For the cheapzoid price you can get the shirts for, why not buy 1 or 2 extra and cannibalize their cloth and sew on some pockets, where ever you want them. And if you don't sew, you could try fuseable innerfacing (around three edges) and iron them on. Or hire a seamstress/tailor; someone with a little sewing experience should take but a few minutes to sew a couple of pockets onto a shirt.

Yes. I have one that I use strictly for cycling. They are very comfortable and worth the price in my opinion
