It’s classic Clint Eastwood. It should have been nominated for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor. I think the film got screwed by the Academy because the character (Eastwood’s) is politically incorrect in the extreme. The ultimate revenge: doing great box office while the other Best Picture nominees (except B. Button) languish.

edit: Note the correct spelling of the title: "Gran Torino".

Roadfix saw Gran Torino a couple of months ago on a borrowed academy dvd screener. He thought it was good, but not Best Picture quality.
He also watched Tim Button a few weeks back and did not care for the film and didn't think it was best picture material.
He thinks Slumdog Millionaire should win Best Picture. He thought it was a great film.

Roadfix will be screening Frost Nixon this evening at Park Drive Bar & Grill after serving up some bbq burgers and dogs for friends and family.

Gran Torino is an excellent movie. One of the best I've seen in years.

Eastwood's directing and performance are outstanding.
