Classic & Vintage - Can anybody speak on Sachs New Success hubs?

I'm pretty interested in purchasing a set of Campy Lambda 32 hole clincher's w/ Sachs New Success Hubs, but I have never ridden on these before. Does anybody have any experience w/ these?
12-24 Sachs freewheel, 8sp......

I guess that in a way it's a full Campy wheel because several of you have mentioned that Campy made these hubs.....

The reason that I'm asking is because my other option is a mint condition 1985 Shimano 600 wheelset and I KNOW that I love 600 hubs..... Wondering how this Sachs set compares...??

The new success group was an "all-european" production.
Cranks and ergos were made by campy, brakes by Modolo, derailleurs were Sachs own/identical to EDCO, afaik.

i'm not aware that campy was involved with the hubs, and they have a completely different design as any contemporary campy hub, so i'm doubtful. They look a bit like Mavics of that time, but are not identical. I think i heard Maillard made them.

Their quality is very good, as a matter of fact.

I have a set (well, two actually), and they are very smooth, and I am impressed with the quality. I have heard that they are a bit prone to having the axles break.

I actually have a near complete sachs new success group, minus cranks. if anyone has the cranks I'd be very interested.

In my limited experience with a set of New Success hubs, the cartridge bearings were ultra smooth and spoke of top shelf quality. I recently sent a set on their way to another forum member that were laced to Sun Venus aero clinchers and had the 8 speed freewheel.

I'm really happy that I listened to you and think that I will be very happy with these...

The guy was a heck of a nice guy and a retired semi-pro/pro. We had a great conversation about vintage steel MTB's and he also mentioned that it is nice for him to only have 1 road bike, 1 MTB and 1 commuter to worry about rather than the race fleet that he used to have to keep up... Great guy and he made me realize that I am getting kind of tired of trying to maintain this many bikes.
Our conversation really resonated w/ me; I think that I'm going to try to scale down a bit and try to become attached to maybe just a small core group........ I've said that before, but I think that this guy kind of made me realize how silly it is to keep up w/ so many bikes.
