Living Car Free - Bicycle Diaries

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Here are some programs to listen too about bike use in other countries:

I listened to some of the one on Uganda. That was interesting, but it was screaming for images. I'd love to see a "Border to Border" bike.
The diary I heard was about Paris and the Velib bicycle program where 20,000 bicycles have been set up so that citizens can use them free for 30 minutes. Since Paris has been spending so much money in an effort to cut down on motor traffic, it's nice to know that some people are actually enjoying this program. Those crafty French... they'll stoop to any solution so they can improve their quality of life. Too bad Americans aren't like that... in too much of a hurry to get to work [and stand by the water cooler...]

It's the legacy of the Puritans in America: If you're enjoying life, you're up to no good.
France kicked its Puritans (Hugenots) out of the country centuries ago, and it's been one big party ever since. ;)

Yeah, when I first started my transportational biking experiments here in DC I felt guilty at how fun life became when I was knifing through traffic and not fighting for parking spots. The lack of anxiety felt like a drug high. Where's the downside? Is it a sin to have fun while going to work? Is it fair for me to arrive on time when everyone else is stuck in traffic? Or am I cheating?
An iconic image of "The Good Life" that comes with transportation cycling:
