Anyone know of training software that will run on OS X? Prefferably one that will allow me to upload data from my Polar S720.

Thanks,

Paul

I don't, but could you load PC Coach Lite (software available with your S720) into Virtual PC? Obviously, this is less than ideal and you won't be able to get any support from Biometrics/PC Coach, but it's worth a shot.

Here's the official answer from PC Coach about supported platforms:

QUESTION:
What are the hardware requirements for the latest version of PC Coach Elite?

ANSWER:
Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows ME, Windows 2000 or Windows XP, 16MB RAM, and 16MB space on your hard drive. To use the SonicLink download feature available in Polar HRMs you will also need a Microsoft compatible sound card and a high-quality microphone. To use the Uplink feature available in Polar HRMs you will need speakers connected to your computer.

This weekend I installed VPC on my new Powerbook 12 1.33ghz. I use a Polar S520 and installed the SW. Software works fine but I can't get the Sonic Link to work. Maybe I'll get the USB infrared thingy and try it?

I'm getting a sense of Deja Vu here... you know the feeling that you've seen that naked pole dancer before.

I thought I responded to this in a similar thread.

Anyways, check out Training Log (http://www.otag.co.uk/TrainingLog/). There's a beta version of the software that works with Mac OSX and Polar HRMs.

Did you get the IR reader to work with VPC? I am looking at my options.
khoun, thanks for the link. Where do you get the serial adaptor for the IR reader? I have an S710 w/ir and a 17" powerbook 1.33 running panther.

I have been developing some software for polar IR devices, no sonic link support yet.

Hy Greg
I looked at the screenshots on your web log. They look great. But how do you get the the data from your Polar watch to your macintosh computer?
Would be great, if you could give me a quick answer! Thanks!

Interesting reply from Polar!

Dear Rene,

Thank you for your message.

Polar Personal Trainer web service works with Apple mac.
However, the WebLink software is not compatible with Apple.
This means you will have to enter your exercise-results manually into the
Polar Personal Trainer.

So far we have concentrated on the Windows PC environment. However, Polar
product development is strongly based on customer feedback.
Therefore, we have forwarded your message to our research & development
department. Hopefully, we will have something to offer Mac users in the
future.

There is a very good commercial product called ismarttrain, which I use with my MAC and OSX.

You need an adapter for the IR reader - Serial to USB. You should be able to get it at any computer store.

The web address is

This product is great, lots of features that aren't in anyother package. Unfortunately I gave up on it and bought the OTAG product simply because it seemed like it "died" for quite a long stretch.

Looking at the weblog - looks like Greg is back at this one so I will download and try it again.
