I know some of you guys are planning to do the Devil Mountain and Mt. Tam Doubles, so I thought this might be of interest...
Every year, the organizers of the California Triple Crown choose three specific doubles for a "stage race." That is, they record finishing times at all those doubles, and keep track of who has the fastest cumulative times.
This year, two of three stage race doubles are in Nor Cal: Devil Mountain (http://www.quackcyclists.com/Dmd09/Dmd2009.htm) and Mt. Tam (http://www.marincyclists.com/Default.aspx?pageId=131074). The other one is the Central Coast Double (http://www.centralcoastdouble.com/), which starts/ends in Paso Robles.
Meaning that this is about as convenient as it will ever be for Nor Cal riders to participate in the Stage Race, as they never pick three Nor Cal doubles or three So Cal doubles for the event.
Also, it means that even if you have no interest in doing the Central Coast Double, you should register sooner rather than later for Devil Mountain and Mt. Tam, as the stage race doubles tend to draw more entrants because riders come from all over the state, and there's a greater chance of them selling out.
