Hello All,

Just a bit of sharing,
since I was a wee lad in upstate Pennsylvania
part of the winter garb is a Jon-e handwarmer.
It looks like an oversized zippo lighter and takes
the same fluid. You light this device up, put it in
it's protectective bag and you have about 10 hrs.
of heat in your pocket. My Jon-e is about 45 yr. old
and still works fine they cost about $20 and you can
find them at Cabelas and other outdoor outfitters.
These really bring a bit of comfort on a frosty day.:thumb:

Beware cheaper asian copies are made and I have
tried them----not really the same.:twitchy:

Here is a link to the real thing, whats that?
no I don't work for Jone or Cabelas.

Cheers.

I last used a Jon-e handwarmer in 1974. I took two of them with me when I went ice fishing for the first time.

One of them leaked lighter fluid all over me, inside my snowmobile suit, which caused considerable skin irritation. I haven't even looked at one since.

Modern chemical heat pads and packets are cheap, lie flat, are lightweight, require no fiddling with and work great.

Assuming they are built like zippo lighters, it wasn't the handwarmer's fault that it leaked, you just way overfilled it.

Hello Sturmcrow,

Your right, it onlt takes
3 teaspoons for 4 hrs+
of comfortable heat.

Cheers.
