General Cycling Discussion - Sweet... I found 6 bucks on the trail.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Riding along today, I saw this fully looking rectangular leaf and as I passed, I realized what it was, jammed on my brakes, made sure the coast was clear, turned back, and snagged it as I passed by, $1 and $5. That was a gooood lunch :)
Anyone else find money lying around the trails?

I found $232 once. And since it was on my property, in my hundred-acre woods, I got to keep it! (It was undoubtedly dropped by some of the hunters who feel like they can come onto my property and hunt illegally...I did find it during hunting season.)
Wow... $232.. and I thought I got lucky lol.
Found it in a NYC park, sorry sorebutt, you're in CA :p

The honorable thing to do is to turn the six bucks over to local authorities.

Didn't find six bucks, but did see two bucks, 10 does and 3 fawns! :D
Once when I was riding along the beach I found $50 floating in the water... Quickly jumped off the bike and ran into the water getting my shoes wet and grabbed the money before it floated away. It was pretty faded and smelt like seaweed, but who cares :)

Three times, most recently on an early morning ride I spotted some cash ahead folded 2x, just lying in the middle of the street. Circled back & picked it up, two $1 bills when I unfolded it. Before that, I was at the local transfer station (dump) unloading brush, looked down & saw a folded up bill, $10. Best was during my college years when we usually ran out of money before I ran out of month. I bought a pair of pants at an after Christmas sale. First time I wore them, put my hand in the pocket & found a folded up $20 bill! Took my wife out to dinner to celebrate. I think the message is: Don't fold your money or you may lose it. Don

Well now that I know people fall for it I gotta tie a $50 to a string and just go with it. Tie it to my tire and just spin it and watch you guys ride down the trail and into the woods. :D

It would be honorable......but is it really worth your time? They are gonna hafta write upa report and what not....just for 6 bucks. Better off keeping it.
If it was a larger amount...then we are talking
I once found 20 when i endo into the bushes. As i lay there feeling humliated, my friends laughing at me, I was able to catch a glimpse of what looked like a bill. Then it was my turn to laugh.

"Wow you got married back in college?"
Did a lot of old fashioned things like that back in 1960. Half my friends had married right out of high school in 1958! There was more demand for unskilled labor back then!
Which meant you could work full time & manage (just barely) to pay your school bills plus support your family. Don

Dang, you shoulda put up a notice in the local shops about it, get the "rightful owner" to show up, then don't give 'im "his" money back but nab 'im for poaching!
