Foo - help me brainstorm!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hi Foos,
As you might have seen from my sig line I'm doing a Tri event this summer with LLS.
What I'd like your help with is totally awesome fund raising ideas. The sky's the limit, and the more creative the better. I know money doesn't grow on trees, but I'm thinking anything with a relatively low (or no) start-up cost like a car wash, garage sale, etc. Group ideas are great too, as I could organize a group project for my team mates.
I was thinking about offering web or graphic design in exchange for donations.
Also doing the standard emailing/letter mailing.
Put your thinking caps on!!

I'd have to bank on getting the theatre rented at a % of ticket sales, though. If I'm going to gamble money on this thing I may as well make the whole donation myself ;)

 perfect- a volunteer! I'll set up the booth, if you could report to duty with plenty of chapstick and an open mind, I'll put you to work.

That's pretty much it from me. Good luck, though. It sounds like a wonderful thing you're doing, and if I had any money, I'd donate. :)

you might be able to talk the owner into donating the theater since its for a charity. worth a shot.

no worries, I'm really needing the fabulous ideas of foo at this point. we've got our own local charities (like court's bike, and stacey's memorial) that need attention.
I can afford to kick in a few % of all of the Yellow+Blue pre-orders to BF people if that helps :)

Oh hell, I've never been very good at helping people part with their money. I have 2 jerseys I can't get rid of. :p If I'm still around, I'll have to come by and check out the tri. Maybe do a little cheerleading. ;)

The local shock jock back when I lived in Tampa used to do a toy drive for kids every Xmas by getting local strippers to help him with his "Toys for Tits" drive. A drive through peep show where you dropped off toys.
Just sayin'.

Just sayin'.:roflmao2: excellent. I'll keep that in mind. Although, I'm not sure the LLS would approve of that going on with their name attached...

Just let me know what I can do- Any businesses (or frankly, really anyone--) who donates any amount can add an image/link back on my training blog-- which ideally, will gain some traffic as this thing goes on.

I just pictured AEO in a maid costume.

Now THERE's an idea that could raise some fundage. As long as it doesn't raise any woodage, I'm OK with it!
I could swear I read it here, but how about I print up a Ladies of Foo Calendar?
