17 miles, A Ride from home up the ranger station for some gentle climbing. Only saw one other guy but it sure was a purty day! 1 hour to get there and 20 minutes to get back home!

Nope, 17 mile total trip, 1:20 ride time which equals 12.73 average up and back.
"One hour up and 20 minutes back" are my words........."Not 17 up in one hour!";)

Ya got it backwards Beanz. You want to buy a mansion at the BOTTOM of the hill. That way you can climb on the outward leg and coast home.
I rode today but only my regular commute. 4 hours and I'll be back in the saddle again.

Did something very similar (profile attached) although I'm sure slower than Mr. Beanz. Could have made it to the top but my cell phone rang and I had to get back to work. Gorgeous day in the San Francisco bay area. I'm taking my camera next time for sure to post pictures. For now the profile and 3D will have to do.
Only downside: ok, so it's a ranch road in very bad condition, but the county is out "fixing" the worst of the potholes. So instead of having to ride around nice, well-defined potholes I'm riding around countless areas of fresh, uncompacted tar stuff. On a road like this it will be 10 years before there is enough auto traffic to compact the patches. I hate it when they do this type of repair!

Rode 37 miles Monday. 3.5 today, after doing some derailleur adjustments. I'm going to try and do 20 tomorrow but they're calling for a 70% chance of rain
Spent close on 2 hours on the trainer today. Glad you were able to get out!

Yeah, for real. I knew you was one tough cookie, but 17 mph up that hill is "WOW" :D
Seriously Beans, looked like a nice day for a ride, and thanks for the pics. :thumb:

I got in 13.7 miles. Freezing and dark, but roads were mainly clear. Got in 300' of climbing. Woo!

Just the standard commute, so a whopping 12 miles. I was really sweating on the way home tonight. I didn't realize until I got home that even though it was 11 degrees in the morning, it was 30 degrees on the way home and I was overdressed.
20 miles with at least 30' of climbing. No pictures, because it was dark.

Two miles, no pics. Only significant because it was the Girl's first ride on a non-wallyworld special bike. Apparently that ride would have done her in on a walmart MTB; she thoght it was pretty easy, save for the fact that she needs serious help from the Winter Cyling peeps on gloves and such.

Did I ride yesterday (28th) yes... I rode to work. That is when I realized that the snow fall they were expecting was realy comming. I live in a Northern Suburb of Buffalo and most of the time when they talk about large snow fall it comes mainly 10 to 15 miles south of where I live (snow can be VERY locallized here). About half way through the day it became obvious that I would not be able to ride home. Though the plows were out in full force, the roads were an absolute mess and staying upright on two wheels with 4" to 6" of thick snow on the road in places would be a real challenge. I could have had my wife drop me off today and ridden home as the roads were looking descent this morning, but I have to visit a remote office and it is clear accross the city... they don't plow nearly as well in the city so in the interest of getting there and back in a reasonable amount of time and getting back in one piece I had to drive today :(
Back to riding in the snow tomorrow again:thumb:
Happy riding,
André

Yeah, not a lot of riding this week. Next winter I am definitely getting studded tires...

Amusingly enough this was the year I decided to get my studded tires. I've biked into work every day so far this season with one exception and that was because of an off site job that required a rental car. Keeping in mind my commute is a whopping 2 miles. Though honestly on mornings like this one (where it rains a bunch washing away the salt then gets below freezing) it gets kind of hairy. Even studded tires are pretty sketchy on wet glare ice.

A bit over 21 yesterday on SGRT before work, and then today a bit over 20 on SGRT before work. No pics; didn't find anything pic-worthy.

No, no, "dedicated". Actually to be completely honest my other two realistic options are the bus or the train. The bus they seem to like heating to about 85 degrees this time of year which would be lovely if I was wearing shorts and a t-shirt... but I'm not. And the train just takes toooooo long. And walking would be hazardous!! Those sidewalks are icy! So biking is where it's at! :thumb:

I like the snow, and ice, and freezing cold temperatures. It's the deep icy, salty slush that pisses me off.
The chunk of ice that I drove over unknowingly this morning as I parked my car that broke a fog light off pisses me off too. Tomorrow I'll use my bike to get to and from the car mechanic...

I thought of this post as I picked myself and my wounded bike & self up off the MUP this evening after hitting a patch of re-freeze!!!!
I miss CA sometimes, but I do find that watching Nancy Pelosi on TV helps take some of the hurt away.

Ouch! Hope you're ok!.......I think if I had the choice of bus or bike, I'd go bike. But the snow would make me think twice!:D
I live only two miles from work. I've walked home more than I've bike home. Just doesn't seem worth getting the bike out! Now being on second shift (out at 1:30) the people leaving the two local bars scare me more than anything! All I need is "Coors" tatooed to the back of my head!
