Foo - Fundraiser: Ladies of Foo Calendar

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Okay, so Arti is doing this Triathlon for Team in Training and is in need of some funds.
I thought it'd be cool to collect some good bike action (or other ;) ) shots a la "Ladies of Foo" and print up a calendar.
Of course, I'd need some good shots from the ladies... 13 of them (one for the cover and one for each month).. so if you all think this is a cool idea, send me some photos and I'll print one up. All of the profits can be donated to Arti's fundraising drive.
What do you all think? :p

brainfart alert:
Since there are likely many more fabulous charities, the first 2 other lovely ladies to commit to submitting a pic (and actually send it to me) will receive an equal cut for the organization of their choice.
ready.... go!

So not to kill the jerk fest that's going on, but if this thing really does happen, I'd like to see our beautiful ladies posing with their bikes. :)
If I really wanted to put my evil marketing skills to work, I'd only make 20 of them and auction them off to the highest bidders :p

supposing we get more than 12 submissions we'll have to vote.
supposing we only get 12, we'll take what we can get
supposing we get less than 12, we'll let AEO and probably chipcom fill in the blanks.

If we get more than 12, we'll just do an 18-month calendar :D

Sign me up for 2 calendars. One for home, one for the office!
There are companies out there you can send photos to and they will make calendars out of whatever pics you send. I'll try and find out the name if you want.

I'd be in for a picture with my bike (maybe an existing one will work?) if it's going for charity only.

I've already got it. My company does printing all the time :)
so wait - if this is for real, would you just sell it on BF?
I'm thinking 12 ladies/12 charities (or more) you could probably raise an awful lot of money selling this.

i might consider it...
IMPORTANT
A note on photographs. These are going to be 8.5 x 11 spiral-bound calendars. The printers like to see 300 pixels per inch, so that means about 2550 x 3300 pixel resolution at minimum (8.4 megapixels).. Everyone, please provide landscape-oriented photos.
We've seen decent results down to 7.1 megapixels, but I would not want to go below that.
Arti, all of the final images should be 3300 wide and 2550 tall.
Thanks :)

YAY! almost half way there already!
Yes, charity only once ehidle coveres expenses. And like I said, I don't want to be a charity hog, so the first other 2 ladies to get me a pic will also get an equal cut for a charity of their choice.

I'm thinking 12 ladies/12 charities (or more) you could probably raise an awful lot of money selling this.here's what I'm thinking: If it looks like we will have enough calendars sold, it would be amazing to split it between that many. I'll keep tabs on what order pictures are received in, and we'll go first come first serve as we have the ability to open it up to more.

If you actually sold it here alone, for a good cause or three i have little doubt you would do very well and sell a lot of copies (as in, how many of us are on BF?:D). If it was something you'd open up to the internet - I think there'd be a lot of bike people who'd easily make it a fruitful endeavor for as many charities as there are subjects.
Just a thought - didn't wanna jump the gun. But calendars are a wonderful and easy to market item.
Also we probably have enough wonderful ladies here to make an appointment book - we'd only need 52 pics:D

I like this idea. Each lady gets to write a short blurb about her charity of choice, contact info, etc. and that gets printed on their respective page. Each charity can make money and all women whose images are used get an equal share of the profits to use toward their charity.
I will buy 1 calender at double the asking price and try to donate $25 month if my employment condition stays the same.

Instead of the ladies posing with their bikes, I think it would be cooler if they were cycling action shots. Like Cbad's picture in the middle of a group ride, Heather mountain biking, fuzzbox jumping over flaming ditches while throwing butterfly knives and flipping off the cops, etc.

Dude that is amazing!:thumb:
My employment conditions would need to change before i could do that, but i would absolutely be good for a few copies.
There could be issues with selling beyond BF. Would the subjects even want this? I'm talking about a tasteful calendar, now, but still, would there be a need for signed releases?

That's where the collage could come in. You could have a smorgasborg of shots.
To each of the 12 charities?
one donation per month, to the charity of the choosing of that month's spokesmodel.

opinions are like....well, you know :) No, wait...suggestions are like...well, you know..Just glad I'm not in charge! Sounds like a worthy endeavor though!
Wow there have been some great ideas presented here. :)
I am going to have to create an ordering webpage to handle this... I think asking $25 for the calendars will leave a decent chunk of change for charitable giving. We could also create a "charity" called something like "The Foo Sunshine Club" where we can dole out some bucks here and there to foosters who fall on hard times.
I will post all donations to the website and also maintain completely transparent accounting of costs and expenses, as well as donations made.
I am not an accountant or a tax attorney, so I don't know if anyone will be able to take advantage of tax dedctibility for donations made to charitable organizations. Are there any tax pros here who might be able to answer this question?
