Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Creekin'

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Anyone else in the northern regions of the world ride frozen creeks/rivers in the winter?
Just did one of the best rides of my life, ~3 miles of frozen creek/snowshoe trail and a couple hundred feet of vert. drop at night solo.
Crashed twice, both were foot-downs off the trail into 3' of powder at less than 5mph.
We are going to hopefully bring the video cameras out on Sat. and capture it.

No but it sounds like a blast! Are you doing it fixed or ss?

I did it on my fixed cross bike, with 35c studded tires. Running 38x17.

i'm so glad this thread is about this and not someone misspelling and whining about a creak in the cranks or something.

That's what I expected as well, but this is so much more awesome.

This looks like the most fun thing ever. I think I'm going to need to take a trip out to Pennsylvania where this would be a possibility...

50? psh. mid 60s here. I did get insanely muddy riding cx in the rain last friday.
either way, this is the best thread in ss/fg right now for the sole fact it makes me jealous that you get to ride through things I never do.

A bit hard to mistake long exposure with ice when you're riding it.:D

Temps jumped about 30F from last ride, did it anyway in the sloppy snow.

Thanks. Once the temps drop, we will do some high speed runs... yesterday was like trying to ride through 2 inches sand on top of glass. Once it drops around 0F it is like riding on a dirt road.
