I'm changing up the look of my bike, hoping to go for a more classic track style. Can anyone recommend a threadless stem that looks like a quill stem? Something thin with a low stack height? Maybe it even caps the steer tube?

Thanks.

Salsa Cro-Moto SUL or the Nitto CT-80. The Ct-80 is 45mm stack height though, which is tall.

Thanks. The Nitto one is really slick. And, unsurprisingly, slick comes at a price.

There are many stems that came in threadless/threaded versions:

Cinelli Grammo
ITM Eclypse
3TT mutant
Salsa SULs

so the threadless versions look very much like the threaded ones. Most of these were for 1inch forks which may not work for you. I'm a big fan of salsa stems as they're stiff as anything and very nice and minimal.

This Salsa threadless stem (http://cgi.ebay.com/NOS-Salsa-Petaluma-Threadless-Stem-1-1-8-120mm-x-90_W0QQitemZ170296906853QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCycling_Parts_Accessories?hash=item170296906853&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2%7C65%3A10%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318) (not sure of model) in particular was available in multiple angles and the salsa logo is just a sticker so it peels right off.

If you're giving me advice on some literal level, thank you, but I'm well aware of the whole concept of exchanging money for goods thing. Otherwise, do you really think the snark was necessary? Christ, some people go right into attack mode at the slightest whiff of provocation, which I might add, I'm not entirely sure was present in my observational response.

Again, thanks to those that were helpful.

there used to be a salsa stem (cro-moto?) that had a pinch bolt clamp instead of a removable faceplate, and similar at the steerer. it was steel with radiused welds if memory serves.
