Recumbent - clipless web site that has pictures?!

Hi. I'm down :(
I posted this on another forum, but thought I would try here with an amendment in my question so that I may get better replies :)
I've been on the web literally for hours trying to find a picture of the pedal that I tried when I was recently in a bike shop. It was called (accoeding to the guy I called at another store) a Box clipless, perhaps SPD? made by Shimano. Nothing I have seen matches the pedal I saw,so I can't figure out if it is top of the line or maybe just "so-so" for a pedal. I mean, I only test rode for 15 minutes in the typical parking lot and I wasn't even clipped in.
I'm going in extremely soon :) and want to have a leg up on what the sales guys tell me (even tho they seem nice). I always feel like because I am a girl and have a tendency to be friendly and nice instead of serious and aggressive that I sense a certain omission of the complete truth about products and information (sometimes, not always mind you!) when dealing w/some 'salespeople'. It's a bummer...and so is not being able to find this pedal. Any recommedned sites whre it could be hiding???I have looked on the Marin bikes but the pictures obscure the Box pedals!! The closest pedal I found that was still way off on the pedal I saw was called Shimano PD-M324 but the one I used was more of, well, like if you maybe drew two different tic-tac-toe signs on separate sheets of paper and then used steel or alloy or whatever to crisscross them with each other into a "skeletal" pedal (i guess you just have to see it). sigh. Sorry for the superlong post!
Everyone here has really saved my butt about bike knowledge and I really appreciate it. Any replies on this one will be graciously recieved.

Never heard of Box pedals so when I read your post I thought you might be talking about Bebop pedals. I went out to www.mtbr.com to look for a Bebop link and guess what I found....reviews on Box pedals. I tried to go to the Box Designs web site. It was unavailable (maybe under construction) but it had a picture of their pedal on the page.
I'd give you the web address but I think you might be better off checking out mtbr.com, sort of an mtb consumer reports. You can read the reviews people have posted on the Box pedals (and other pedals). Take the "hotlinks" link and you'll get links to the manufacturers' web sites. Good luck.

Thanks! Yeah, the bebop pedal next to one of the less mentioned Shimano SPDs that I've come across is the pedal
that is closest to the one I tried. Except the only pic of the bebop
I've seen showed a more 'rounded/oval' cage and the one I had was more really square at all angles.

I have never bought a bike before, so thats why I have so many questions (pretty much all on another thread) so I am a bit nervous abt having the sales guy tell me the right info which is understandable i think. I mean, I'm prob. 99% sure I'm gonna get the bike, I just want honesty abt the parts and a good deal.
In any case, I looked at it 2 weeks ago this Sat. and am abt to go in today again... thanks for your well-wishing, I'm sure it will be good :) I'll try to figure out how to post pics and do that once I have the bike

No that wasn't it, but than kyou for trying to help me!
It turns out that the pedals that it comes w/are _imitation_(!) shimano SPDs :(
The guy offered to switch them to entry level Time Atacs (basic black coloured aluminum ones) if I payed the difference of $50.oo He qouted the imitation ones as $40.00 --how does that sound to you? I saw a few other bike places and lots of ads where the introductory Time Atacs were only $75.00 not the one hundred or so that they are in this store,so it seems like he's only knocking off twenty dollars or so and maybe making a profit-
Sorry if I sound paranoid, it seems awkward to me. In any case,
it is 20.00 less for me (but still 50.00 more if you see what I mean :) ...so I'm trying to figure now if I should even go for clipless. I would have to get the shoes, maybe 50.oo (thats a lot!)

The bike is getting a tuneup and I am sure about the bike :)

Are you talking about a Coombe Pro Pedal. There in the shape of a cross and square.:D

Now that sounds cool. A cross? Like Jesus would be giving you extra special protection or something :)

The ones the bike comes with are imitations of the (better) Shimano SPDs (and I've heard too many bad things about them to go w/them if I do get clipless).

I think I've seen an Azonic(?) pedal with a cross shape in it...

I guess if your going to be riding on the road the cross pattern might be the one for you. I never though of that extra protection thing. I"m going to look into buying pair for myself!

Emma, I personally use Time A.T.A.C. pedals and they are the best I've used. I've used many Shimano and copies. I paid $100 for mine and they're the composite kind. I've seen some Carbon A.T.A.C. on Ebay for $125.00 so, it doesn't sound like he's giving you a "deal" unless I've read it wrong and he's charging $50 for the Alium's and giving you $40 credit for the one's on the bike. If this is correct and the net difference is $10 then I'd say go for!

But, I wouldn't let the pedals be the determining factor in your purchase. Plus you would still need to buy shoes and I know you want to save $$$$$. Have him give you the $40 credit on the pedals and put some regular caged pedals on it for $15-20, net difference $20 to 25 to your advantage. When you're ready to go clipless, you can buy a pair of pedals on closeout and a pair of shoes as well.

You've stated the husband has been nice, but the wife makes you more comfortable. Call ahead and deal with her! Remember, you're the customer!

You want to start a relationship with the shop if you like the woman, get to know her and she'll be your ally.

As far as the deal $860 plus tax. What's the tax rate in your area? I go in with $900 cash and tell them that's all you've got take it or leave it, but you want a pair of slicks (don't have to be the $40 each kind) and a helmet.

All they can say is no, If you don't ask, you'll never know. If they do say No, tell them you'll be back when you can get more $$$ and walk out (This is the hard part, b/c I know you really want the bike) chances are you won't make it out the door!

I like Time ATAC Aliums so much I've got a red pair on my recumbent road bike and a black pair on my StumpJumper MTB. I paid $75 on-line for the reds and $59 for the blacks at Supergo in their clearance bin. My local LBS retails them at $110. You can always defer such an expenditure - there are many bargains out there on all sorts of upgrades.

Yeah, I don't know if I can really afford the pedals right now. I really would like to do clipless but the budget is what is constricting me, you know.

Do you think it is bad ettiquette to ask to try swapping the seat when I go in for the bike? Or since I ave already put a down payment of $200. dollars that it is "offically" considered a closed sale? The shop was closed when I gave the guy the deposit. He stayed after a bit talking (trying to sell me on) the bike. I told him as I had told the other lady earlier that I wanted to switch seats FOR SURE--I told him the seat was uncomfy but he said, "Oh this is a great seat" blah blah blah...yeah, I want to save $, but so does the guy selling me this bike. He adjusted the seat for me and it felt better, but it is still not a seat that I want- I really hate how this guy is subtley puchy even tho basically nice. I think it would not be unfair to ask about switching the seat. What do you guys think (based on that I've already given him a deposit and I have bought the bike)????
