Southern California - Any long distance riders out there?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. The Hoodoo 500 (http://www.planetultra.com/Hoodoo500/index.htm) is a ways off but when you plan to do a race like this you should plan way in advance. I was thinking about doing this race because of the price, it's almost half as much as the Furnace Creek. I did the Furnace Creek 508 last year and it was a lot of money, not to mention the weather and scenery was... well if you like the desert then I guess you would have liked it.
Well what do you think? Pay $500 and do the Furnace Creek 508 again or $295 and do the Hoodoo?

Again with the promoting Planet Ultra while putting down Adventure Corps? Didn't we do this last year, but with a different OP?
You don't think you'll spend that $200 difference getting to and from Utah? Just sayin'. Go ahead and promote a race, but it's lame to do it at the expense of another one.

Bitter??
I've never done either but if I had already ridden one I would definitely try the other. Maybe the scenery will be better. It will probably be a wash either way in terms of money.

Let's not do that again :crash: Also while promoting Planet Ultra and comparing with the Adventure Corps, I'm really promoting both. And I'm not putting down The 508, I like the Adventure Corps. I just wanted an open discussion about the two.

Good point, while I calculated the difference in gas for to/fro and it's only about $60 more in gas money.

Nothing like digging up old bones.
Then again if PU did to me what they did to her my shovel would be dirty too.

Hey Beanz, I did the 508 last year on a 2 person team. It was a blast. If you are thinking about doing an ultra distance race, do it on a team first to experience the route and to work out any crew bugs. I will do it solo this year. So maybe then I can be another one of your American Idols?

Cool! Thats a good idea! I'll bet you do it no problem! If I ever decide to do one of those killer rides, I'd go for the glory!:thumb:
