Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - stripped lockring, still skidding?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. so this past weekend i was changing out my rear cog for a little verity in my legs, you know, to keep the body guessing. And as i was tightening down the lockring I could help to feel that something had gone wrong, well something did. I stripped the threading, and since i ride brakeless this sort of posed a problem for me, or so i thought. As it turns out, I can still skid without a lockring... anyone else have and experience similar to this? or am I just pressing my luck?
as always, thanks

You'll end up hurting yourself if you keep at it. Get a new hub or at the very least just rotafix+locktite.

I already have a new wheel set on the way, i'm just surprised that its holding up this well.

that doesn't even make sense....unless u are cross threaded your cog SO badly that it's seized on the wheel enabling you to skid...
but yea. please dont ride brakeless on it anymore ....
That shouldn't even work.... think about it. You're basically using the drivetrain like a chainwhip, it should thread off the first time.
edit: not saying it's not. It just shouldn't work.

If he's had the cog on for a LONG time, it'd be tight enough that it wouldn't thread off the first time. It's near impossible to get parts off of my old 10-speed.
At least put a brake on though, your system is bound to fail sooner or later (likely sooner).

ive riden a few miles with a loose lock-ring before after the idiot lbs barely tightened it. Just stomp the tire to stop. It's not the end of the world
