Everyone OK? I know that a 4.5 isn't too huge, but we felt some tremblies all the way up on Redmond Ridge, so it's not like it was a just a thunderclap.

Fortunately, it was deep (58km, 35 miles) and only of moderate magnitude so I doubt there's much damage. Deeper quakes like this tend to spread their energy out over a wider area than shallower ones, which decreases the intensity of shaking but makes them widely felt.

My scary earthquake scenario: A shallow magnitude 5 near downtown Seattle, or a deeper 6 point something. This would leave the Viaduct standing but unusable, and the state would have to arrange an expensive demolition to avoid the hazards of it collapsing on its own. Hopefully we'll have a replacement done before this happens.

I guess I slept through it, and being a geologist, I had to check it out: http://www.pnsn.org/recenteqs/Quakes/uw01301325.htm .

Looks like it was across the sound from Mukilteo, but still awfully close to my house, and maybe I woke up, I recall some 6 am disturbance. I will have to ask my family.

We were just heading into the parking lot at work (so my husband could drop me off). We thought it was just the potholes getting us, until we figured out later that it was the earthquake. Oh, that's at Riverton Station, just north of SEA.

It would have happened just as I was starting out my ride. Any instability I incur at that time of day I assume to be my fault.

Didn't feel a thing on Oly's east side, and I'm a light sleeper. The doxies went crazy, though.

Didn't feel a thing...I'm in the Roosevelt neighborhood of Seattle.

Howdy neighbor!

Howdy yourself! Are you in this corner of our neck of the woods? Too funny!
