Hi.
There are signs that PCH will be closed on Feb 1st from 2am to 2pm, and they are putting bunch of tents in HB. Does anyone know what the event is going to be?

Thanks
UD

I'm in the 5K. Much better weather this year than last.

Portions of PCH will be closed in H.B., but in the past I was able to navigate past the blockade by using the beach path.

I choose life, or actually just riding Santiago Canyon out and back. :)

Voltman went sub-2 hrs in the half. Mateo and Mel also ran but I don't know how they did.

Good on them!

My time sucked out loud--I was late getting started because of the shuttle-bus and traffic issues, and it was all I could do to keep from being run over by the halfers. But I have another cute little surfboard finishers' medal for my collection!

f*ck this thing. they had a bunch of random streets closed off today and it took me almost an hour to get from newport to seal beach. they didn't have any detour signs anywhere.

Oh c'mon dddave...that just meant you could spend more time outside in what was a great day.

Btw...mateo ran 1:44 in the half...that's some fast running.

For those of you who like running along the beach in SoCal:

Next year the Carlsbad Marathon is planning on extending their course route down through Encinitas and Solana Beach. The proposed new race name will be the Beach Cities Marathon/Half. It should be a nice route along 101 pretty much the whole way.

Thanks, CJ. BTW, Melissa did it in under 2hrs too -- a few seconds behind volt.

Except that once you get past south La Costa Blvd, the old 101 is away from the beach, and is really not as nice to run along. It will still be better than having to head inland along Palomar Airport Road like the current full marathon course does.
