i have a race in 2 weeks. im signed up for the cat5 crit. this race has a "public" class at alater time so i was wondering if that public race will count for the cat 5 mass start points?

USAC doesn't really have a "public" class anymore-- it's been replaced by the combination of one-day license plus cat 5 races. What they're calling "public" may be a fun ride or some vestige of a promoter who hasn't paid attention to changes in licensing and categories.

Post a link to the flyer.
ABR runs "citizen" category which is in actuality their "cat5" category. In this case they are used for upgrade.
Here's the deal though...your USAC official that processes your request for upgrade will make the judgement about what does and what does not count. They don't really stick to the letter of the rules...rather they are looking to see if you met the intent of the upgrade requirement - that you have participated in enough mass start events to learn how to race in packs with others...without dying or killing others.
Honestly I dont think I had enough USAC Cat 5 crits/rr to qualify for an upgrade, but with ABR and USAC cyclocross I had something like 20+. I got the upgrade....and a "good luck".

in this event there is a cat 4/5 race then whichs is like 25 total miles and then another even later in the day as the "public" adult race for 5 miles for an extra ten bucks

Yeah...no. I wouldn't see anyone counting that.

My wife is a nurse. I'd say that's awesome but really what it means is that she'll dump what feels like acid on a wound then then hit you and say, "oh stop being such a big baby" if you squirm.
